Beginning with the 2010-11 academic year, Clarion University must calculate SAP cumulatively, as the percentage of earned credits divided by attempted credits. ALL students must successfully complete at least 67% of attempted credits. "Cumulatively" means that all periods of enrollment will be counted, regardless of whether the student received aid.
Attempted credits are enrolled credits after drop/add. Failed courses and withdrawals count as attempted credits. Earned credits are credits successfully completed. Transfer credits count as attempted and earned credits. Students are also required to remain in good academic standing.
Unofficial Clarion University transcripts list attempted hours (AHR) and earned hours (EHR). The modified SAP policy allows students to repeat classes, with some exceptions. SAP checks are run once each academic year, at the end of spring semester. Students who did not make SAP will be notified. They will have the option of taking summer courses to regain SAP, or appealing. Clarion's modified SAP policy is available here
